“The Spot” is a series where I highlight my favorite places in NYC for anyone who’s visiting or wants to try something new.
I recently discovered one of my new favorite spots for the BEST vegan food in New York. Candle Cafe is an all vegan restaurant with two NYC locations on the Upper East Side & Upper West Side. I’ve been to both locations, and the west side spot is definitely more towards the formal side, while the east side is more casual. I personally prefer the east side one! Their menus are different, but both are filled with a variety of vegan dishes that you probably wouldn’t think could be made vegan. I’m so impressed by everything about this place, from the menu options to the food itself. It’s for sure one of my new favorite places that I’ve been telling everyone about.
At Candle Cafe West, I went for brunch and ordered the pancakes that were topped with fresh fruit and strawberry butter. It was SO GOOD and tasted just like traditional pancakes. At Candle Cafe East, I got fried avocado tacos and a BLT. The tacos were incredible and the BLT was different for me, but also SO good. I’m usually not a “fake” meat person, but the tempeh bacon was a pleasant surprise! I ate there last week, and I wish I was joking when I say I’ve been thinking about the food ever since.
PLEASE go visit here if you’re in the area!! Like I said, I prefer the UES location, but both are great!

Is it obvious I’m obsessed with this place?
